Pilion mansions are distinguished in various types of architecture. The large number of mansions belong to North Aegean type, which was founded and developed during the escape of refugee groups in Pelion, during the Ottoman domination. These refugees from Epirus were specialized the usage of stone as a building material and thanks to this fact, the mansions acquired a North Aegean type. A smaller percentage of mansions are part of the neoclassical type derived from the native Egyptians. The walls of the houses are large enough in thickness, so in the summer the houses are cool and the winter are hot.
